Shed roof garage – A shed roof surface must protect the shed and its contents from the weather, but it also needs to be attractive, fit in the house and the neighborhood and be easy to maintain. Pick a surface depends on the type of roof and its pitch or inclination. Flat or low-slope shed roof requires different finishes from the pitched roof. Barracks in an area with the entire traditional colonial house will look out of place with gleaming aluminum panels.
Finish options on flat or low slope ceiling is limited by the shed roof garage style. The selections are made, modified bitumen membranes or certain types of steel. Built-up roofs are made of alternating layers of roofing tar paper and topped with gravel. Modified bitumen is similar, but the layers are sheets of bituminous material. The membrane is either plastic or rubber cemented to the roofing, usually black but sometimes with a white coating. Structural metal or standing seam panels provide the most color and appearance of the variety.
New materials and methods offer interesting and very attractive finish choices for the shed roof garage. Both metal and certain vinyl and plastic is made to resemble clay tile, slate, including wood shakes and shingles. These also need to be installed separately, but gives more decorative options, are long lasting and require no maintenance. Metal clay or slate tiles, for example, is hard to tell from the real thing at all distances. They are also lighter and easier to install than real clay or shale.
