Low voltage landscape lighting – Low voltage landscape lighting systems are a great way to add accent lighting to your yard or garden. The systems will typically come with pre-cut lengths of wire, which may limit your placement of accent lighting. To extend the low voltage landscape lighting wires, you can splice in additional sections of wire.
Stretch out the existing low voltage landscape lighting wire. Cut the wire in the middle with a pair of wire cutters. Isolate from each of the cut ends of the wire so that each wire electrodes, about 2.5 cm of bare wire exposed. Pulling apart the wires of each wire, so that they are separated from each other for about 10 to 15 cm. Disconnect the cable to insert into the circuit. It should be of a similar gauge and construction. Cut a length that is long enough so that when inserted between the cut parts of the original thread you have enough wire to position your lights for its destination. As in step 2, separate the leads of the wire on the ends and tape around 2.5 cm of the insulation from the wires.
In each of the conduits of the new piece of low voltage landscape lighting wire, sliding on a 5 cm long piece of heat shrink tubing. There will be a total of four pieces two at each end of the new piece of wire. Twist together the old and new wiring to create a continuous length of two-wire. At each session, use a hot soldering iron, hot wire, and then applying solder until it flows into the joint.
